It is Monday, October fifth, twenty twenty-six. I am Maya. Devon: And I am Devon. Let us get you up to speed on everything happening at Microsoft. Maya: First up, Windows. The big annual update is officially here. Microsoft has released the Windows eleven twenty twenty-six update, also known as version twenty-six H two. Devon: And this one is refreshingly painless. Instead of a massive reinstall, it arrives as a small enablement package, just one hundred seventy-four kilobytes, with a single restart. That is because versions twenty-four H two, twenty-five H two, and twenty-six H two all share the same underlying codebase. Maya: To get it, open Settings, go to Windows Update, and turn on the toggle that says get the latest updates as soon as they are available. Then check for updates, and look for version twenty-six H two. Devon: One more reason not to wait. Support for Windows eleven twenty-four H two ends next week, on October thirteenth, for Home and Pro users. Moving to twenty-six H two starts a fresh support clock, twenty-four months for Home and Pro, and thirty-six months for Enterprise and Education. Maya: In other news, Microsoft is redrawing the map of its software business. Office and Teams are being folded into a single organization focused on Copilot, platforms, and software agents, as the company pushes A I deeper into everything you do at work. Devon: There is a leadership change with it. Ryan Roslansky, the former LinkedIn chief who had been running Office and Copilot, will leave the company at the end of the year. He has been with LinkedIn and Microsoft for nearly eighteen years, but says he does not want to relocate to Redmond full time. Dan Shapero stays at the helm of LinkedIn. Maya: Wall Street, meanwhile, is feeling optimistic. Wells Fargo added Microsoft to its tactical ideas list for the fourth quarter and raised its price target to seven hundred twenty-five dollars. The stock gained about thirty-eight percent in the third quarter, its strongest showing in years. Devon: And speaking of A I, the new Copilot is rolling out. It brings three new capabilities called Home, Code, and Autopilot, and it puts the full power of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint directly inside Copilot. Microsoft also unveiled FinOps for A I, to help companies manage what they spend on Copilot and agents. Maya: On the security front, there is no new Patch Tuesday today. The next one lands on October thirteenth, a week from tomorrow. There is, however, a heads-up for gamers. Some players report that games like Battlefield six and Battlefield twenty forty-two crash after installing the optional September preview update. Devon: Anti-cheat compatibility is the suspected culprit, and Microsoft has not yet acknowledged the problem. If your games started crashing right after that update, the workaround players report is to uninstall it and wait for the official fix. The rest of us should be ready to install the October security update when it arrives. Maya: So, to recap. Twenty-six H two is here and easy to install, Microsoft is reorganizing around Copilot, and the next security update lands on the thirteenth. Devon: That is your Microsoft Morning Briefing for Monday, October fifth. We will be back tomorrow morning. Maya: Have a great day.
