Maya: Good morning, Boca Raton, and welcome to your Monday, October fifth, twenty twenty-six morning briefing. I'm Maya.

Devon: And I'm Devon. Monday is here, the sun is climbing over the ocean, and we've got a full look at your week ahead, your coastline, tonight's sky, what's happening around town, and the local stories you need to know.

Maya: Let's start with the weather, and honestly, this is a classic October South Florida week. Today, Monday, we will reach a high of eighty-six degrees with an overnight low near seventy-eight. Rain chances are low today, only around thirteen percent, and winds are gentle at about twelve miles per hour.

Devon: Not a bad start at all, but the week turns wetter fast. Tuesday brings a high of eighty-six again, with the low dipping to seventy-four, and rain chances climb to nearly sixty percent.

Maya: And then Wednesday is the day to watch. We're looking at a high of ninety degrees, rain chances around ninety percent, and a chance of real downpours with a bit of wind at ten miles per hour. If you have outdoor plans midweek, you might want to move them.

Devon: Thursday stays stormy too, with a high of eighty-nine, a low of seventy-nine, and rain chances near eighty-eight percent. Winds pick up a touch to thirteen miles per hour.

Maya: Friday brings a little relief. High of eighty-seven, low of eighty-two, and rain chances back down to around forty-nine percent. Winds stay steady near twelve miles per hour.

Devon: And the weekend looks warm and a bit breezy. Saturday, a high of eighty-eight with a low of eighty-three and rain chances around forty percent. Sunday, a high of eighty-nine, low of eighty-three, rain chances down to thirty-seven percent, with winds around sixteen miles per hour.

Maya: So the pattern is clear. Warm and dry today, wet and stormy from Tuesday through Thursday, then drying out and heating back up toward the weekend. Keep the umbrella handy midweek.

Devon: Out on the water, coastal conditions look friendly today. Waves are running about two feet along the Boca coast, and the water temperature is a warm eighty-six degrees. Great boating weather, just keep an eye on the sky if those midweek storms roll in.

Maya: Now let's talk about tonight's sky. The sun sets at seven-oh-two this evening, and full darkness settles in around eight-eighteen. The moon is a waning crescent, about twenty-nine percent lit, and it will not rise until after two in the morning, so it won't be up after dark tonight.

Devon: That means dark skies for stargazing. Saturn is up high in the east after dark at about thirty-nine degrees, glowing steadily through a telescope. And keep an eye to the southwest right after sunset, because the International Space Station will make a pass at seven twenty-eight this evening, low on the horizon at eleven degrees. It should be a quick but nice sighting.

Maya: Let's look at what's happening around town. If you are looking for a date night, Meat Market Boca Raton has live music this Friday and Saturday, October ninth and tenth, under the veranda starting at six in the evening, with dinner service and a live singer every weekend.

Devon: And for something family-friendly, the Boca Black Box hosts Dizzy's Magic and Mayhem, direct from Broadway, this Sunday, October eleventh, at two in the afternoon. A great afternoon show for all ages.

Maya: And if you love Halloween, the thirteenth annual Cars and Coffee Palm Beach Trunk or Treat Halloween Spooktacular is happening this Sunday, October eleventh, starting at eight in the morning at forty-eight fifty T-Rex Avenue. Classic cars, candy, and costumes.

Devon: Now to local news. First, Boca Raton is about to become home to what developers say will be Florida's largest indoor pickleball and padel facility. Boca Paddle by CityPickle opens November eighteenth, a one-hundred-thousand-square-foot luxury racket club with twenty-five courts, including sixteen climate-controlled indoor courts and a one-thousand-seat stadium court. The twenty-million-dollar facility will sit at West Jeffrey Street and North Dixie Highway, north of Yamato Road. Co-founder Brian Levine says Boca Raton is already the pickleball capital of the world, and hard-hat tours of the facility start October seventh.

Maya: Second, big news downtown. A New York court ruled on October first that the lender behind the unfinished Mandarin Oriental condominium in Boca Raton cannot seize and sell collateral tied to the project's four-hundred-eighteen-million-dollar loan. The decision means developer Penn Florida Companies keeps control of the eighty-eight-unit luxury tower at one oh five East Camino Real, at least for now. But fresh questions remain over whether the Mandarin Oriental brand will stay attached to the project, after the hotel company said last year it was ending its branding over missed deadlines and unpaid fees.

Devon: And third, a major new proposal just south of Mizner Park. Procacci Development has pitched a nine-story, two-hundred-forty-eight-thousand-square-foot mixed-use building at ninety-five and fifty-one South Federal Highway, replacing its own nineteen eighty-five office building and a nineteen forty-eight shopping row. The plan calls for eighty-four luxury apartments, ground-floor shops, second-floor offices, and underground valet parking. Because it already fits downtown zoning, it only needs site-plan approval, not a rezoning.

Maya: That's your Monday morning briefing, Boca Raton. Warm and dry today, storms midweek, a warm weekend ahead, and plenty happening around town.

Devon: Have a wonderful Monday, and we'll be back tomorrow morning with everything you need to start your day. I'm Devon.

Maya: And I'm Maya. Make it a great one.
