Maya: Good morning, and welcome to the Apple Morning Briefing. It is Sunday, October fourth, twenty twenty-six. I am Maya.

Devon: And I am Devon. We have got a full plate this morning, starting with the biggest countdown in Apple land right now.

Maya: That is right. The first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, now has its dates locked in. Preorders open Friday, October sixteenth, at five A M Pacific, and the phone goes on sale Friday, October twenty-third. The price is one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine dollars, and Apple is planning to launch in more than seventy markets.

Devon: Analysts are already making predictions. One research firm expects Apple to sell about six million Duo units before the year is out. But here is a warning we need to pass along: scammers are already at work. Security researchers have found a fake iPhone Duo preorder page that looks convincingly like Apple's own store and offers a five hundred dollar discount voucher. It is a trap designed to steal crypto wallet data and more. Do not click preorder links from texts or social ads. Wait for Friday, and go through Apple directly.

Maya: Good advice. On the software side, Apple's release calendar for October is unusual. i O S twenty-seven point one is dedicated to the iPhone Duo and ships with it before October twenty-third. Then i O S twenty-seven point two follows later in the month, and that is the one with the big Siri A I language expansion: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Devon: The twenty-seven point two beta is already in testing, and it also brings profiles for the Apple T V app and a Dual Capture mode for group FaceTime calls. Beta seven just landed as the general release date approaches.

Maya: Now the security segment, and this one is important. This week, Apple patched a zero-day vulnerability that may already have been exploited in what Apple called an extremely sophisticated attack against specific individuals. The flaw is tracked as C V E twenty twenty-six dash eight six nine five zero, an out-of-bounds write in CoreGraphics, the part of the system that draws images and text.

Devon: Apple fixed it on September twenty-eighth in i O S twenty-six point seven point one, iPad O S twenty-six point seven point one, mac O S Tahoe twenty-six point seven point one, and mac O S Sequoia fifteen point eight point one. The exploitation warning applies to iPhones running versions older than i O S twenty-seven. Meta's product security team reported the flaw, and C I S A has since added it to its known exploited vulnerabilities catalog.

Maya: If you are still on an older version of i O S or mac O S, update today. The patch is in Settings, under General, then Software Update.

Devon: That is all for this morning. Have a great Sunday, and we will be back tomorrow.

Maya: See you then.
